Hello, I’m Tina Kay, a Las Vegas–based watercolor artist with a lifelong love of creativity and making. I live and work in Las Vegas, Nevada, where family, art, and everyday moments of beauty deeply influence my work.

 

My journey to Las Vegas began in 2002, when my husband Darren, our daughter Jessica, and I relocated from Canton, Illinois to be closer to my parents and sister. Those years spent near my parents were a gift I will always cherish. Today, family continues to be the heart of my life.

 

I’m especially inspired by my granddaughter, Kay, named in honor of my beloved mother, whose joyful spirit, resilience, and boundless personality bring daily light into my world. Kay was born with Down syndrome and later diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and watching my daughter advocate so fiercely and lovingly for her has been profoundly moving. Kay is one of my greatest joys and a constant reminder to see the world with curiosity, courage, and compassion.

 

Creativity has been part of my life since my first high school art class. Over the years, I’ve explored many artistic paths, including acrylics, colored pencil, markers, sewing, and crafting, but watercolor has truly captured my heart. About four years ago, I returned to watercolor with renewed focus, immersing myself in learning through online tutorials, artist memberships, and continuing education platforms such as Skillshare and Domestika. I also attend in-person workshops and demonstrations whenever possible.

 

I am an active member of the Nevada Watercolor Society, where I currently serve on the board as Publications & Newsletter Chair and Assistant Website Administrator. Being part of this vibrant community has been invaluable—both for artistic growth and for the friendships and mentorships that continue to inspire me.

 

While I enjoy experimenting with a wide range of subjects, my greatest passion lies in florals and botanicals. I’m drawn to their organic forms, expressive movement, and endless color possibilities. Many of my works have been created as gifts for family and friends, allowing me to explore diverse themes while painting with intention and love.

 

I currently balance my art practice with a rewarding career in commercial insurance, though my long-term dream is to transition fully into watercolor and creative work. I paint consistently, creating new pieces each week, and have begun offering original paintings and fine art prints so they may find homes where they can be enjoyed and lived with.

 

My original works are painted on high-quality cotton watercolor paper—primarily Arches Cold Press, my favorite for its beautiful texture. Select pieces are available as professionally produced prints through Printswell, a print studio known for its exceptional quality. Many originals are also professionally framed, a craft my husband and I have learned together and now enjoy as a shared creative pastime.
